Description
WILFORD'S TRADING POST Buy Direct from Gallup, New Mexico = The Indian Jewelry Capital of the World Description: Sterling silver spurs cf Artist Name: Sunshine Reeves (Navajo). Signed: Yes from Wilford's blog 9/25/08: Spurs are one of the distinctive pieces of equipment used by horsemen throughout the ages. In the days of chivalry, spurs and the metal from which they were made were a mark of rank. Hence the expression "to earn your spurs." Today they are a standard piece of cowboy equipment; designs vary widely. I've found only three Native American Silversmiths willing to rise to the challenge of the crafting spurs. The first was the late Harry Morgan. I discovered a pair of his excellent spurs in a showcase at an area dealer shortly after starting this business. When I asked about price, I was clearly told--not for sale. This year, much to my delight, I found two pair entered into competition at the 87th Gallup Intertribal Ceremony. Both were dazzling. One pair was done by Gary Reeves (Navajo), the other by his equally talented brother Sunshine Reeves. I passed on the opportunity to buy, somewhat to my regret which was reversed today when I found and bought the winning blue ribbon pair by Sunshine Reeves. At an appraisal price of $6000, these sterling silver blue ribbon winning spurs may indeed be hard to earn. Buying Considerations from Wilford PRICING If your find that some of our prices appear surprisingly low compared to many of our EBay competitors, congratulations, you have discovered Wilford’s Trading Post--one of the very best places to buy authentic Native American Jewelry. We are a family owned business founded in 2007. Living in Gallup gives us some tremendous marketing advantage because our town is indisputably billed as the Indian Jewelry Capital of the World. Most of our retail pricing is done by a simple formula based on our wholesale acquisition cost. Vintage and irreplaceable items are priced by our own appraisal. AUTHENTICITY Approximately 95% of what we sell is bought on the reservation or in Gallup; exceptions include Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We screen diligently to avoid imports masquerading as authentic Native American jewelry. Our stock merchandise comes from well established, reputable wholesalers and individual artists. We regularly attend market place showings and museum exhibitions, and Wilford writes regularly in Wilford’s Buying Journal to share in depth insight into the marketplace. We will provide a certificate of authenticity on request, but keep in mind that they are rarely requested for they have little if any value because they are the easiest thing to fake. SHIPPING & INSURANCE Insurance is included in the shipping price on all orders. We price our shipping to approximate the actual shipping charges. Shipping charges within the continental USA are limited to $10. Most products are shipped within 24 hours of receiving payment. PAYMENT We accept credit cards and other forms of payments through PayPal. For domestic orders we accept money orders, cashier, bank, and personal checks. Payment through PayPal is required on all International orders. CUSTOM ORDERS: Rarely is it practical or financially worthwhile for a single piece. In reality most of the artists are elusive and not inclined to do custom work. RETURNS We offer money back on all items returned. We reserve the right to charge a 10% restocking fee and to ask the buyer to pay return postage. Return of items for credit must be within 7 days unless an exception is granted.
