CASE: This is a solid .935 SILVER three piece case. The case is in good condition, and the engine turning on the case back is in excellent condition. The case has a few light dings here and there. The dust cover is in good condition, with some normal wear marks. It has a few light scratches, but nothing too detrimental. The case back has a shield shaped cartouche with NO personalisations. The hinges on the case back show a little wear, and are not as tight as they should be, but this watch is over 118 years old! There is a name lightly engraved on the INSIDE on the case back. The watch measures a large 5.2cms (52mm) in diameter, excluding the crown and chain ring. The inside of the case back is fully hall marked for solid .935 English silver dating the watch to circa 1890. DIAL: This is an absolutely fantastic RARE and superb, lovely SOLID SILVER original dial. This dial is in near mint condition, and is shining beautifully! It is absolutely gorgeous. The dial is finished in silver and is engine turned, with a most beautiful golden leaf pattern outer edging. It has a central beautifully engraved golden leaf pattern to the dial center. The GOLDEN Roman numerals, are polished, and are raised. They have a lovely polished hue. The blued steel ‘spade’ design hands are in excellent condition. The minute hand may be a replacement. This dial is unsigned. The crystal is brand new, and as such is in mint condition. MOVEMENT: This is an original beautiful key wound ¾ plate cylinder movement which is unsigned. The movement has beautiful gilt plates,with blued steel screws. The balance wheel has a fantastic blue overcoiled hairspring. You would expect that a movement from circa 1890 would not be working, but this movement is in good condition, and IS running. All parts are present, and are operating correctly. The watch winds smoothly and is key wound and set, which work as they should. The watch is keeping decent time as tested over a 12 hour period. The original crown, and chain ring are present, and are in good condition. The watch will have a key provided, so that it can be used straight away if required.
