Description
I am currently listing a wide selection of Vintage Pocket Watches at great prices!!! Many of the pieces that I am offering are perfect for carrying and display and will make great gifts or simply treat yourself to a nice addition to your collection. Please view all my auctions for a super variety!Offered here is a nice, above average, 18 size Waltham P.S. Bartlett movement housed in a 14K solid gold hunters case. A large, fancy, uninitialed shield centers the front cover along with back ground engine turning. The back cover is also engine turned. Each cover tapers on a classic polished ring ending in a raised outer lip. The center ring or frame of the case is deeply reeded. The covers close nice and tight. The dust cover or cuvette is plain polihed. The case is signed "Roy - Warranted 14K - U.S. Assay - 294417."The case shows very little signs of wear or daily use. All of the engine turning has remained completely sharp and crisp. There are a couple of small visible pressure marks on the front cover but nothing substantial. The front cover opens sharply when released and stops just past 90 degrees. The back and dust covers open properly. The hinges are VERY firm and the covers snap shut tight. The bow still shows strong resistance and the large pumpkin shaped crown is sharp. Overall, the watch measures 56mm (2 3/16") wide X 80mm (3 1/8") from the top of the bow to the base of the case X 18mm (11/16") thick. Total weight of the piece is a heavy 5.2 ounces (149 grams). The front cover opens sharply when released revealing a beautiful single sunk, white porcelain dial which is marked with black Roman hour chapters and red five minute numbers. Blue, open, tulip shaped pointers center the dial and are bright and clean. The dial is stark white and clean. I can find one hairlines that runs from the edge at 17 minutes in an arc shap to the sub seconds bit. There is also a hairling running from the edge at 33 minutes to the sub seconds bit. The rest of the dial is problem free. A glass crystal protects the dial and is scratch free. The 18 size, 17 Jewel, P.S. Bartlett grade, nickel, full plate, stem wind and lever set movement is clean and bright. The movement is signed "P.S. Bartlett - Waltham, Mass. - 17 Jewels - Adjusted - Safety Pinion". The serial number 19519240 dates this piece back to about 1914.The movement is very clean and bright, showing only minor service marks and NO rust or spotting. It exhibits a wonderful, brilliant damaskeen design, screw down gold jewel settings and a gold micro-metric regulator. I have just had this watch completely and professionally disassembled, cleaned, oiled, polished, timed and regulated. It winds and sets smooth and is running strong while keeping excellent time. Although Not The Pristine Condition That Most Of The Watches I Offer Are, This Piece Is Certainly Far Above Average. With The Exception Of The Pressure Marks In The Front Cover & The Hairlines In The Dial, This Piece Easily Meets All My Other Criteria. Overall, The Watch Shows Almost No Wear! This is a very nice, strong running watch that is ready to put to use or add to your collection. I am offering this item with a "Buy It Now" should you choose to end the auction early and eliminate last minute bids. I will also gladly consider any reasonable offer you may wish to make on this item. If I failed to mention something in my description of the watch OR there is erroneous information present, it is purely unintentional. In spite of as much care, detail and research as I try to put into the description of each and every timepiece I sell, it is inevitable that I will miss something on occasion. Please keep this in mind when viewing the pictures. Consider them carefully, in lieu of my description and make sure to e-mail me with any questions or concerns you may have PRIOR to bidding. I usually respond within 24 hours. Regardless of my description and photos here is the bottom line, I want you to be happy with your purchase.
