My info was based (mistakenly) on it being manufactured by New York City Watch Co. when, in fact, it was made by New York Standard Watch Co.! The following revised info is from the Complete Guide to Watches (2007 edition). The watch mechanism appears to correspond to the photo at the left on the top of p. 332 (model 165 OF). As far as I can determine, the watch itself is listed at the top of p. 329 as: "Chronograph, 15j, 3/4 plate, Damaskeened, stem wound, with fly-back (stop-watch second) hand." My earlier ad for this watch listed it as a 7 jewel; it appears to be a 15 jewel! In any case, it is definitely a New York Standard "Chronograph" with Stop-Watch Functions. (The stop-watch function was apparently used for timing horses!!) Manu.1904. Watch serial no. 55193xx; case serial no. 88369xx. Dial: Mint condition except for a very small edge chip at 1:00 (not visible with front cover closed). 60 second outer dial; Arabic numerals; new, heavy-beveled crystal; plum-blue hour, minute and second hands, all in exc. condition. Mechanism: Lever set, stem wind; with gold train. Case: "Philadelphia Watch Case"--guaranteed 20 years. Hinged front and screw-off rear bezel.Size: 54 x 18mm. Recently serviced and runs strong.
