This extraordinary natural blue sapphire is a gorgeous and vivid, deep (but not dark) indigo blue color. It measures 8.53 x 7.00 x 5.25mm; weight is 3.11ct; clarity is VS, type II; and the color rating is dark, strong, blue (GIA B 7/5). The cut is excellent. This emerald cut (also known as rectangular or "step-cut") is quite unusual and desirable in a sapphire; most gemstone cutters won't cut sapphires into this shape as it "wastes" more of the gemstone material than do the more traditional cuts such as oval.The sapphire is flanked by two large, emerald-cut diamonds with E-F color, VVS to VS clarity, totalling approx. 0.91ct in weight.
