Description
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is an exceptional western-style bolo tie, circa 1979, depicting a Phoenix rising out of flames; the base is comprised of etched sterling silver to which the Phoenix (in 14k Yellow gold) and the flames (in 14k white gold) are attached. The bolo cords are heavy, braided brown and black leather with the neck flattening out and having pads on each side to keep the bolo in place. There are 8 silver pieces on the cords, the cords ending in two silver tips. An appraisal is available to authenticate the makeup of the bolo and will be included with the tie. The sterling base measures 1 ½” tall and 1 ¾” at the widest point at the top, tapering down to ½” at the bottom. The Phoenix measures 1 1/3” tall from the tip of the wing to the base of the flame and 1 1/4"at the furthest spread of its wings. The sterling pieces measure about 1 ½” long and the sterling tips measure 2.5” long. The detailing overall is very nice, with extra attention being paid to the Phoenix and its feathers. The silver pieces on the cord are serrated at both ends and the silver tips are serrated on top to match. The back of the base has "Sterling" engraved on it and also has the artists’ hallmark stamped on it. The bolo is in very good Condition, as it hasn't been worn very much. There are no scratches or dents, though some of the silver pieces on the cord are a bit tarnished but will polish right up. I’ll leave that to you, if you wish. All in all, this unique, high quality bolo tie would make a very nice gift, especially (but not only) if one lived in Phoenix.
