This Victorian ring is expertly made and highly detailed, making it very unique. The setting of this spectacular diamond is PLATINUM FILIGREE, studded with graduating pave set diamonds at the ring shoulders and gallery edge. Hand made leaf sprigs create the filigree open work at four sites on the rings shoulders. Four squared off prongs hold the center stone at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, rather than at the conventional diagonal 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock points. All four prong arms lead seamlessly down into the platinum band and are all studded with pave set natural diamonds. The band itself has been hand engraved; the detail trailing down both sides of the ring and nearly touching at the ring back. The center stone is a 1.32 carat round European cut, flawless natural diamond. Its brilliance is pictured well but is nothing compared to the view you will have in person. This ring is pictured with antique platinum diamond anniversary bands, showing how it may look with a wedding ring or stacked with one on either side. These two rings are not part of this auction though we have many similar to them listed in our store. As this engagement ring is a genuine antique, the wedding set style worn at that time was such that the two rings (engagement and anniversary) were not designed to either match perfectly nor sit flush together, as many contemporary sets do today.
