Description
Up for auction here is the most incredible pocket watch I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Due to a close relative's serious medical condition, I've chosen to sell it to contribute to his mounting medical costs. What you see here is a late 1800's 18k Solid Gold Split Second Chronograph Pocket Watch produced by Antoine LeCoultre for the Agassiz Watch Company of Switzerland. The watch was retailed by the well known, prestigious firm of Merrick, Walsh, and Phelps Jewelry Co. of St. Louis Missouri. It was a presentation piece from the Anheuser Busch Company to whomever's initials are engraved on the back. The front cover has the very first A & Eagle logo design used by Anheuser Busch beginning in 1872. The dial is in mint condition and all original. It has been recently serviced and runs and keeps time. It has been fitted with a new old stock glass crystal. It is lever set. The split second chronograph functions do work. One of the pusher springs looks to have been replaced many years ago, but it does work. Sometimes the reset function moves a little sluggish but it still does work. All of the hands are original and line up perfectly when reset. The 18k solid gold case was manufactured by the American firm of Jeannot and Schiebler and is marked as such. The case is in very good condition. There is a small ding just to the left of the pushers on the edge and can be seen in one of the photos. The are also some minor scratches where the case opens in the back. At the 12 o'clock position of the inside dust cover on the back is a very small pin hole. It looks to have rubbed up against a spring on the movement at one time. The dial measures 46.24mm in diameter and the entire watch measures 53.15mm in diameter. When you push the crown to open the face, it springs open easily and with good force. There is no wear to the bow. The overall condition of this watch is absolutely incredible. Good luck and please feel free to ask any questions. Shipping is FREE. All domestic shipping with be by USPS Registered Mail. Payments accepted are certified funds or Paypal. No personal checks. Business checks from a known watch retailer or collector with the NAWCC are acceptable (United States members only and I must be able to verify this through the NAWCC member site). ALL payments must clear before the watch will be shipped. International payments are Paypal only. International shipping is by Federal Express or UPS Worldwide Express and will be my choice. Returns are only accepted if significant errors are made in the description.
