The dial is layered and also sterling silver, hallmarked X from 1821 (I have checked this out-you can check at various websites) The hallmarking is clear, and points to the date 1821. The FUSEE chain on the barrel is missing, and needs repair work, as is the balance staff which is broken from the bottom. The seconds hand is also missing, but am sure can be matched with the beautiful blued steel hands! A good restorer will also be able to bring about the beautiful and ornate dial which is also in sterling silver!! I have tried to include as many photographs as possible to highlight the beautiful artistry that has gone into producing this wonderful time piece. The makers of this pocket watch were located in Middlesbrough, England, and the inscriptions on the original winding up keys says, 'Collingwood & Son' Middlesboro....the inscription on the movement says, 'M.Jacobs' Middlesboro.
