67 Rolex Double Red Sea Dweller 1665 - Patent Pending Start Price USD 99,900.00 Current Price USD 99,900.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, October 04, 2008 End Time Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Location New York, New York See more about '67 Rolex Double Red Sea Dweller 1665 - Patent Pending ' Description I have decided to sell off the balance of my collection.  These watches were acquired over a long period of fanatical collecting.  Many of these pieces would be very difficult to replace today.   The watch for sale in this auction is the highly coveted “Patent Pending” model.  It is the second version of the Sea Dweller lineage which is referred to as the “Smudge Dial” by collectors due to the way the white coronet on the top of the dial was printed.  Additionally the “Submariner 2000” signature used a larger font for the numbers “2000” than the font used for the letters “Submariner.”  The piece is fitted with a ref 9315 “Patent Pending” folded steel link bracelet.  The bracelet has eleven links and 380 end pieces.   The stainless steel case has a length of 48mm lug to lug and a width of 42mm including the crown.  The case back interior is signed “Montres Rolex SA, Geneva, Switzerland, Patented, Stainless Steel” along with the reference number “1665” and the date “IV.67.”  The case back exterior is signed “Rolex, Oyster Gas Escape Valve, (Patent Pending).”  The case is also signed “Registered Design, 1665” between the top lugs and “Stainless Steel, 1720xxx” between the bottom lugs.  Please note that this case has the early version of the helium escape valve.   The dial is guaranteed to be original and is in virtually perfect condition.  It is signed “Rolex, Oyster Perpetual Date” beneath the twelve o’clock position, “Sea Dweller, Submariner 2000” in red print and “2000 ft=610 m, Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” in white print above the six o’clock marker along with “Swiss–T<25” beneath the six o’clock marker.  The luminous on the dial perfectly matches the luminous in the hands as well as the luminous dot in the bezel.   The watch is powered by a non-hack Rolex caliber 1570 rotor automatic.  This particular movement is in immaculate condition.  The rotor is fully signed “Montres Rolex SA, Geneva, Swiss, Twenty Six 26 Jewels, Adjusted Five 5 Positions and Temperature.”  This watch was serviced by a Rolex trained watchmaker in December 2006 and is in perfect mechanical health.   Please read carefully:   I reserve the right to end the auction early.    I will only accept a Bank Wire as payment.  No other payment methods are accepted.    Payment must be received within 7 days after the auction ends or the transaction is null and void.    Payment of all customs, duties, tariffs and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.  Buyer is also responsible for postage and insurance.  Insurance is mandatory.    Shipping estimates can be obtained via the shipment cost calculator at the bottom of the listing.  Please note that the cost of insurance may be higher than the estimate if the item ultimately sells for more than the current bid.    I use US Priority Mail for shipments inside the United States and US Priority Mail International for shipments outside the United States.  Due to problems with customs in Italy, I will not ship this item to Italy.   Local pickup is acceptable, but only at my office in downtown Manhattan, New York.    Please note that my job requires that I travel often so I may not be able to answer questions for several days.  Please be patient.  I will answer questions as soon as possible.
