Description
This is a very nice, solid 14k gold mens money clip with an 1894 $10 Liberty gold piece securely fastened to the front of the clip. The reverse of the coin is clearly visible through the back of the clip. The money clip is very clearly marked "14k" on the back side. Total weight of this piece is 35.4 grams -- well over one full ounce. The coin is 90% gold and weighs 16.7185 grams, so the gross weight of the 14k gold money clip would be 18.6815 grams. At the time of this posting, gold is $816.30 per ounce, so the "melt" value of the gold in this piece is calculated as follows: Coin -- 16.7185 / 31.1 grams to an ounce = .5376 ounces x 90% (purity of the coin) = .4838 x $816.30 = $394.93. Clip -- 18.6815 / 31.1 grams to an ounce = .600 ounces x 58.33% (purity of the clip) = .3500 x $816.30 = 285.71. Total gold "melt" value of this piece, based on a gold "spot" value of $816.30 is $680.64. We're putting a starting bid on this piece at $700, which as you can see, is just a hair over the raw "melt" value of the gold. We can't be any more fair than that! Happy Bidding, and thanks -- we always appreciate your business! FREE SHIPPING
